Michael Francis Smith is the Minister of Music and Worship at Christ Chapel. The Trinitarian worship at Christ Chapel is focused on the saving acts of Jesus Christ and includes singing, prayer and the hearing of the Word. Our worship is grounded in the past and looking to the future. Michael leads the contemporary worship band and directs the Christ Chapel Choir. On any given Sunday morning at Christ Chapel, there is a synthesis of musical praise resounding from a carefully planned and coordinated blend of instruments including wind instruments, guitars and the glorious sound of our impressive pipe organ.
Michael completed a Doctor of Worship Studies in June 2016 from the Robert E. Webber Institute of Worship Studies in Jacksonville, Florida. He is a writer of contemporary Christian hymns and songs; and he also composes music for concert band, string orchestra and choir. His music is published with both Imagine Music Publishing and Lorenz Music Publishers. Michael leads workshops in worship for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and is passionate about helping today’s contemporary church rediscover the richness of worship that tells the whole story of God.
He lives in Centerville, Massachusetts with his wife, Janice, and their two children, Sean and Colleen.
The Christ Chapel Choir is open to all who love to sing praises to our triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. No experience and training is necessary, only a desire to sing in a community of Christian fellowship. Currently, there are at least three congregations represented in the Christ Chapel Choir. Call the church office for more information.
