CHRIST CHAPEL IS:
Biblically Evangelical and Orthodox
Theologically we are both evangelical and orthodox. By Evangelical, we mean that we belong to the broad group of Christians that transcends denominational and national boundaries and strives to be Biblically sound in our doctrine and practice. By Orthodox, we mean that we confess with the worldwide Church the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. Our statement of faith is fully orthodox. We would say with Jude that we “contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude3, ESV)
We chose to call ourselves Interdenominational rather than Non-denominational when we started. We did not like the negative of the ‘non” in Non-denominational. But we could have chosen Ecumenical instead, because that was and is still our intent. We wanted to be a big tent that would welcome all evangelical believers from any denomination. We did not want to limit our ministry to sectarian Presbyterians or Baptists, but were hoping to appeal to the broader Christian community and to bring new believers into a church with a broad understanding of the church as a whole. We have had Greek and Russian Orthodox, Roman Catholics, Episcopalians, Calvinists, Lutherans, Baptists, Congregationalists, and any number of Free Church and non-denominational church communicants.
Christ Chapel grew out of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church on Cape Cod, and has always leaned toward the reformed in our understanding of the Bible. Reformed teaching strongly emphasizes the sovereignty of God and the purifying of the church, which began during the Reformation, considering the work of theologians Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, and others.
We are a conservative church. We teach and practice male eldership. Our services tend toward the traditional in our order of worship and in music, while embracing the best of contemporary practices. We value the role of women in various positions of ministry and many of them serve as Deaconnesses, Women’s Ministry Leaders, and in other aspects of our local Ministries.
We have recognized the validity of infant baptism under the reformed understanding of the covenantal relationship between the believer and the church. But we have recently determined that all members should be baptized, either under the covenant teaching of the Bible (paedobaptism), or by confession of faith at an age of comprehension and responsibility (credobaptism). (See the Elders’ statement, On Baptism)
Support of foreign missions has always been a high priority of the church. But we also have a heart for local mission. Our intent is for the church facility to be a focal point for multiple ministries. The ‘Day of Hospitality’ is one example and Samaritan’s Purse Project, Operation Christmas Child, is another.
A Christian school was part of the original vision for the church. Then the Lord placed Veritas Academy, a Classical Christian School, in our facility. The school began here in 2,000, and we have recently signed a formal five-year contract which will bring the church and school closer by understanding the importance of a Classical Christian education for our community.
The intent in the founding of Christ Chapel was to be a church where the Baptist and the Presbyterian, the Lutheran and the Anglican, the Catholic and the Orthodox, and all believers of any or no denomination can worship together, fellowship together, and join in Holy Communion together.
Christ Chapel was established as an interdenominational fellowship in 1980. We enjoy a rich history that gives testimony to the faithfulness of God. We exist today only by His grace.
Our mission is to glorify God upwardly in worship and prayer, inwardly through biblical instruction and fellowship and outwardly through evangelism, missions and community involvement. It is a profound privilege to serve this church family in one of the most beautiful places in the country.
A CHRIST-CENTERED COMMUNITY
We are often asked what is meant by the term interdenominational. It simply means that our purpose is to pursue unity in the essentials, stress liberty in the non-essentials and demonstrate charity in all things. In short, the common denominator of our interdenominational fellowship is Jesus Christ.
Please join us for worship every Sunday at 10 AM. Children's Church for grades 2 and below runs during the service. Nursery care is provided for all of our services. Sunday School for all ages is held from 8:45 - 9:30.

CHRIST CHAPEL STATEMENT OF FAITH
WE BELIEVE the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, completely inerrant in the original writings, having supreme and final authority in faith and life.
WE BELIEVE the Godhead eternally exists in three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one God, having all the same nature, attributes and perfection, and this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all.
WE BELIEVE man, both male and female, was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God. All human beings are born with that sinful nature and are in need of God’s saving grace.
WE BELIEVE the eternal Son of God became incarnate to reveal God to men and reconcile men to God. Through His life, death, and resurrection, atonement was made for sin and redemption was provided for all mankind.
WE BELIEVE salvation is received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and those who trust in Him as Lord and Savior are born again, receiving forgiveness and passing from spiritual death to eternal life.
WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit draws people to Christ and, as Comforter and Guide, He indwells all who receive Jesus Christ as personal Savior and leads them into all truth.
WE BELIEVE the Church is composed of all who have been born again, and that, by the Holy Spirit, these have been baptized into one body and given spiritual gifts and power necessary for her work and growth.
WE BELIEVE , under the Lordship of Christ, we are called to holy living in obedience to the Word of God.
WE BELIEVE in the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His Church, the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the earthly reign of Christ in righteousness, and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom.
